RACGP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health is running an active learning module (ALM) that is focused on assisting you with understanding the issues that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people often face when attempting to access healthcare. This six and a half hour interactive session will tackle the question: ‘Can we do better than ‘I treat everyone the same’?
Allow yourself to be taken on a journey with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural educators, who will share their personal stories and experiences and encourage you to share yours. We will explore the practical strategies such as communication and a biomedical model that you can implement to improve the care that you provide to your Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families.
So do not miss this wonderful opportunity to experience Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture including an Indigenous style dinner. Visit http://www.racgp.org.au/yourracgp/faculties/aboriginal/education/events/ to register for these workshops, which will be run across Tasmania, Sydney, Brisbane and Darwin – you will be able to fulfil your QI&CPD requirements for the 2014-2016 triennium, as you will be awarded Category 1 (40 points) for this workshop, whilst meeting your cultural awareness requirements.
