Submission Productivity Commission into Human Services

The Productivity Commission has been tasked with inquiring into how greater competition and contestability can be inserted into the delivery of all human services – including health, education, employment, corrections, housing and aged care.  The Alliance’s submission to the Inquiry focussed on the issues of competition and contestability in rural and remote health and the need to ensure that any changes did not have perverse impacts and delivered real benefits in rural and remote communities.  The issue of market failure was raised together with workforce and other current issues that impact the delivery of health care outside Australia's major centres.
