Stream 2 of the Rural Health Continuing Education Grants sub-program (RHCE2) is one of a number of Australian Government measures to help health professionals in more remote areas access continuing professional development (CPD). (See http://rhce.ruralhealth.org.au/about-rhce2 and http://rhce.ruralhealth.org.au/rhce2-evaluation-report)
RHCE2 is managed for the Australian Department of Health by the National Rural Health Alliance.
Online applications for Round 6 (2015) may be submitted from 3 February to 3 March 2015. All reports, expenditure and acquittal of grants must be completed by 30 November 2015 and projects that cannot meet these timelines will not be funded.
Round 6 of RHCE2 will support and promote local CPD for rural and remote health professionals, as in previous rounds. It will also provide funding for knowledge translation activities to showcase the lessons learnt from the RHCE2 program in order to help Primary Health Networks (PHNs) to take on the role of supporting CPD in their jurisdiction.
Summaries of the 100 completed RHCE2 projects can be found at http://rhce.ruralhealth.org.au/grant-allocation. These provide useful information about the provision of continuing professional development for clinicians in more remote areas.
