The team at the Alliance recently joined Mental Health Australia in the largest ever mental health delegation to federal Parliament. The team from the Alliance, along with 90 other delegates from the non-government sector, went to Parliament House to lobby federal Parliamentarians on the need for urgent action in the area of mental health services. The delegations called in particular for the urgent release of the National Mental Health Commission's Review of Mental Health Services and Programmes so that mental health services can get on with their core business of providing services to people in need. The Alliance staff also used the occasion to highlight the problems many people have accessing mental health services in rural Australia, and to outline some policy solutions we believe will go some way to improving the situation.
