The Alliance is considering its position on the report of the Review of Australian Government Health Workforce Programs (the Mason review) released on 24 May 2013.

The review embraced the concept of measures to support the lifetime path of an individual working in the rural health sector - a concept outlined by the Alliance in Twenty steps to equal health by 2020.

The Alliance will also join a working group to plan how to take town size as well as ASGC-RA remoteness classifications into account for rural workforce incentives.

Both these outcomes of the Mason review respond to the report of the Senate Inquiry into factors affecting the supply of health services in rural areas in 2012.
