The second day of the 14th National Rural Health Conference, currently underway in Cairns, will be live streamed on YouTube from 8.30am.
Day one kicked off with a bang yesterday and for media and those unable attend, there's still a chance to see some of what's taking place over the next three days as 1,100 delegates converge for the most significant event of its kind in the country when it comes to rural and remote health.
Highlights this morning will include a session dedicated to the economics of rural and remote communities with Allan Fels, Chair of the National Mental Health Commission, taking the stage first, followed by Mick Reid, Deputy Chair of the conference principal sponsor, the Royal Flying Doctor Service on â€˜best bang for buck.â€™
Adjunct Associate Professor of the Menzies Centre for Health Policy at the Sydney University, Lesley Russell, will also discuss what works economically in the delivery of primary health care in rural and under-served areas.
