The NRHA submission to the House of Representatives Standing Comittee on Health Inquiry into skin cancer in Australia summarises incidence, mortality and five-year survival rates of malignant melanoma and other skin cancers by remoteness. Recommendations including maximising support for health professionals in rural and remote areas in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer including through telehealth. The importance of raising awareness and encouraging prevention and early diagnosis outside the cities is raised. The recommended focus for governments is on finding the means by which best practice prevention, early diagnosis and ongoing management of skin cancers can be made available away from the major cities.
