Preventive health and health promotion activity in Australia - Submission to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee Inquiry

01 July 2014
The Alliance provided a brief submission to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee Inquiry into the Bill to repeal the Australian National Preventive Health Agency Act 2010. The submission urged the Department to maintain a focus on the particular characteristics of more remote areas in future health promotion and illness prevention work - as was the case with ANPHA. Rates of daily smoking which have fallen consistently and substantially in Australia's major cities, but not in rural and remote areas, is one area of health promotion of particular interest to the Alliance.
